Moree home to a Special Activation Precinct

On 16 March 2022, the NSW Government announced a $194 million investment to fund the first stage of construction of the Moree Special Activation Precinct.

What is a Special Activation Precinct?

A Special Activation Precinct is a dedicated area in a regional location identified by the NSW Government to become a thriving business hub.

A Special Activation Precinct is a State-led initiative that will create jobs, attract businesses and investors and drive economic growth through simplified planning approval processes. These are unique to regional NSW as they bring together planning and investment support services. Businesses will be able to establish and grow with certainty and confidence knowing the right planning framework is in place to deliver the jobs of the future sooner.

Where are we now

The NSW Government has announced $194 million to fund the first stage of construction of the Special Activation Precinct, with the Moree Special Activation Precinct Master Plan and Delivery Plan also now finalised.

The Delivery Plan outlines the process and requirements for a business to set up and operate in the precinct, supporting the streamlined planning process, while the Masterplan provides the overall the vision and goals for the project.

The Moree Special Activation Precinct development is great news for the community of Moree and the entire North West NSW. The development of the Moree Special Activation Precinct is a process led by the NSW Government, who have worked closely with Moree Plains Shire Council, community industry and stakeholders throughout the planning process. Moree Plains Shire Council is excited about the opportunities the Moree SAP will bring for job creation and economic development throughout the region.

What’s the next step?

The Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation (RGDC) will now work on the design and delivery of the precinct, including infrastructure such as roads, sewer, water and electricity services, with construction scheduled to begin in 2024.
